Renaissance Artist Puppet Company's Theatre productions are done in Manipulation A'vue. This is a European adaptation of the Japanese Bunraku where the puppeteers are seen on stage, dressed in a background color, usually black. Our productions are all written to be family entertainment with an educational base. The goal of each, is to provide a fun learning experience through quality theatre presentations utilizing many styles of Puppetry. All of our productions have original music scores or underscores. All production are appropriate additions to specific classroom curriculums.

Alice Through the Looking Glass

 

Renaissance Artist Puppet Company revisits this Lewis Carroll classic with Shadowesque, Table Top Rod puppets and Mask work. Alice must come to terms with her own fears as she travels through Looking Glass Land.  As with our other productions, music plays a prominant role in this production.  Children will have fun with the fanciful characters and adults will enjoy a multi leveled script and a marvelous original music score.
It is excellent family entertainment and for use as
a teaching tool for students studying allegorical literature or for students learning about working through problem solving.

Space Requirements: 18' x 13' and ceiling clearance of 9'.

Ananse and the Sky God



 

This classic Southwestern African folk tale is told with a bit of a twist.  Ananse's wife, Aso, tells the story of how the Trickster Spider Ananse won the right to tell the Great Sky God's stories.  The set, mask, and puppet designs are based on flavors of traditional arts from the Ivory Coast and other Southwestern African countries.  An original score has been written, and each character has their own music, in a similar fashion to Peter and the Wolf.  This story is told with Masks, Rod Puppets, and Shadow work.
This performance is an excellent primer or follow-up to African cultural studies.

Space Requirements: This is a full stage production needing 20' x 20' and ceiling clearance of 10'

Colores del Agua, The Colors of Water

 

Two Myths from Latin America with bilingual interactive aspects. This production is brightly colored in it's design and musical score, both influenced by the folk arts and music of the regions where these myths come from. Learn how our Oceans, Rivers, and Rainbows came into being.
This is an excellent opportunity to expose students to our ever expanding cultural diversity. This performance contains bilingual interactive aspects.

A Whale & Dolphin
of a tale,
Cetacean


 

Cetacean is based on one of the two currently accepted theories of how toothed whales and dolphins evolved. Travel back in time to the era of dinosaurs and giant mammals. Cetacean brings the prehistoric history of these creature's evolution to life with spectacular puppets and original music. These seven vignettes are slices of life from seven animals in the evolutionary tree that became what we know today as Whales and Dolphins. This performance is an excellent primer or follow-up to evolution studies.

It's A Mazing



 

Experience Theseus' heroic journey in this epic musical based on the Theseus and the Minotaur myth. This Greek classic, adapted to a musical form, is performed with table top rod, standard rod, and shadow puppets. As well as Masks and dance. Excellent addition to literary and cultural studies.
