Session 1: Shadows and Masks in Puppetry
Mask and Shadow making; and children will create short
vignettes utilizing shadow, mask work and dance movements
based on emoting specific emotions.
 
Session 2: Comedy with Shakespeare and Slapstick
Campers will explore elements of Shakespeare's comedies
and what makes them funny; Punch and Judy, pratt fall
humor, as well as other comedic elements of theater will
also be investigated.

Session 3: Fairy tales and Folklore with an African twist
This session will be an introduction to dance and theatrical movement that accompany African story telling. Students will learn short parts of these specialized movements to present an introductory demonstration to family and friends on the last day of the session.

Session 4: Mask and Puppetry with a Musical undertone :
This session will be focused on short vignettes that the children develop with puppets and masks. Music will be utilized as an underlying catalyst to the development of these vignettes.
This year our campers grades 2-4 will learn about make masks and shadow puppets, how to manipulate them as well as an extended theatre experience while developing vignettes or working on scripts to perform on the last day of each of these 2 week camp sessions.
Campers grades 5-9 will get these experiences as well, while adding the building experience of 4 different
styles of puppets. Fun will be had by all building and working together
to create fun characters and short skits.
Puppetry, Dance, Mask, as well as Slapstick, Staged combat and Music will bring a full fun Theatrical learning experience.
These content outlines will be tweaked to accommodate the
needs of our registered students.

Puppetry and Standard theatre gives children the opportunity to explore their creativity, learn
to work cooperatively, develop better listening and motor skill, and to
fine tune their focus.

Camp Overview
Puppet
camp classes available for campers grades 2 through 9.
This
camp's goal is to provide campers with the enrichment of performance art
and all of the life lesson that it can offer, while introducing them to the
world of Puppet and Standard Theatre.
Class sizes will be no more than 10 students to 1 instructor.
All instructors have current FBI, Abuse, and Criminal History clearances.
